Every individual is born into a particular time,
place and culture. We live with a family, a family history and
inherit a genetic make-up. From the time of our conception, events
occur which shape our relationships, experiences and lives.
We acquire 'rules for living' from family values
and from different people which cause us to have certain thoughts,
behaviours and actions that can cause stress, tension and depression.
We may need to adjust our 'rules for living'
throughout our lives. This involves taking a look at 'ourselves' and
adopting different coping strategies, helping us to grow, maintain balance
and moving us forward in our 'spiritual' journey. "Man know thy
self" - the mind, body and spirit is a
"whole" living being. The spiritual side of our being s ignored
by many but enlightens us to “love of self”. Love is the 'spiritual balance' that our
spirit seeks regardless of being rich or poor. For God, The Father,
gave us a spirit not of fear but of power, love and self-control (2 Timothy 1:7).
Many naturally form negative words and statements,
leading to angry, stressful and frustrating conditions affecting their
health with aches, pains and ailments. Positive words and statements
lift the spirit empowering individuals with ‘respect’ fostering
self-control and confidence. Many ignore the power of the spoken
word as though a disconnection exists for the ‘spirit’. Whether
we want to accept it or not, we are ‘spiritual beings’; we therefore have
the ability to manifest good or bad experiences by our thoughts and the
spoken word.
